Nanzenji-temple Aqueduct of Biwako-sosui Heianjingu Shrine

Biwako-Sosui canal was the great project in Kyoto. The work began in 1885 and was compleled in 1904. This was the project of the Japanese, by the Japanese, for the Japanese. No foreign advisers took part in this project. The canal is the modern heritage in Kyoto. Along the canal, the philosopher's path goes from near the Silver Pavilion. Also Heian shrine was constructed in 1895 as one of the projects for the 1,100th anniversary of the founding of Kyoto city.
